This Gift – a Romantic Love Poem
Romantic love poems can be powerful when it comes to describing the depth of emotion two people share. I was recently moved by a poem written for someone special, and how it managed to capture the beauty and power of love in a few carefully chosen words.
Reading it filled me with warmth and brought tears of joy to my eyes, as I thought about the story behind each line. It wasn’t just empty words on a page; each word had its own meaning that connected with me on an emotional level.
All these feelings are what made me write this poem.
Romantic love poems have always resonated with me in a strangely powerful way. There is something about them that captures my attention and speaks to my heart. When I write a romantic love poem, it often feels like I’m part of something bigger than myself – something meaningful and powerful.
This feeling was particularly strong when I first read the poem ‘One Love’ by Robert Browning, which spoke directly to my soul. The depth of emotion expressed by the poet made me rethink what true love means – it’s not just an emotion but an experience that transcends time, space, and language.
It’s a feeling that brings people together, no matter their background or culture, and unites them in a shared understanding of human connection.
This understanding gives us hope for our collective future as well as for our own individual journey through life.
This Gift
I could be falling to pieces,
Like a smashed jar of clay,
But when I see your face,
My brokenness can’t stay.
I forget about a heart,
That’s been pushed away and slashed,
When I am by your side,
It’s like I have no past.
My pain could be outside,
Or in the deepest chasms of my soul,
Yet, only one touch from you,
I’m healed, I’m joyful, I’m gold.
I want to kiss you in the moonlight,
Be the girl you hold,
Turn to you in silence,
And have everything I want to tell, told.
I want to hold your hand in the center,
Of life’s deadly tornado of greed,
I’ve never cried, still, you give all this,
Tender love really does start… when received.
