The poem is about the thoughts that come to one’s mind when they’re lonely or sad. It is typically in the second person, but can also be in the first person.
It is after a while that I think of you And I wonder what you are doing And if you are missing me too. And I wonder if you think of me too And I wonder if you miss me too think of you when I’m lonely, and it never rains but it pours.
You are the only one that can comfort my blues.
After A While
After a while, you fall madly in love
dreaming, hoping, wishing, thinking of him;l mad
you feel as though you two are one, ve
united in the feeling felt within.
After a while, you begin to feel
as though everything weakens.
The love is falling apart;
you start to see the kisses aren’t contracts
and gifts aren’t promises;
you begin to learn love isn’t forever
and the company isn’t secure.
After a while, you learn your feelings
are the same, but your love
has something different in mind;
you learn love hurts and without
the hurt there’s no true love!
